MASON COUNTY TAX PAYER’S NOTICE
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
COLLECTION DATES:
- 2% Discount – Month of November
- Face Amount – Month of December
- 5% Penalty – Month of January
- 21% Penalty – February thru April 15th
DELINQUENT TAXES:
At the end of business on April 15th all unpaid real estate taxes are transferred to the Mason County Clerk. At this time, in addition to the penalties and fees that are applied by the Sheriff’s Office, all payments made in the County Clerk’s Office are subject to a 20% County Attorney’s Fee, A 10% County Clerk’s Fee and interest at 1% per month. The delinquency is also subject to being sold to a Third Party.
PRIOR YEAR DELIQUENT TAXES:
Prior year delinquent taxes must be paid to the Mason County Clerk’s office. You can contact them at 606-564-3341 for the correct amount due.
LOCATION:
The Mason County Sheriff’s Office is located at 120 West Second Street (old Health Department Building), Maysville, Kentucky. Office hours are 9:00 am until 4:30 pm weekdays. Our telephone number is 606-564-3309.
PAYMENTS:
We are highly recommending no in-person payments. Payment options available:
- Mail -- Please be sure to include your tax bill or put your bill number on your check. Your cancelled check can be used as proof of payment. If you wish to receive a receipt by mail, please enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope.
- Drop Box – Check Payments Only
- Credit Card -- Credit Card payments may be paid by clicking the above online payment link (an additional charge by credit card company will be applied).
BAD CHECK POLICY:
There is a $50.00 charge for returned checks. If your check is returned, your bill will be reversed to an unpaid status. Your repayment should correspond with the payment schedule on your bill.
ASSESSMENTS, ADDRESSES, HOMESTEAD & DISABILITY EXEMPTIONS:
The Property Valuation Administrator (PVA) is responsible for the assessment of your property, mailing and property address, and exemptions. If you have questions regarding any of these, please contact them at 606-564-3700 or refer to their web page masonpva.com.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
Your tax bill will be mailed on a yellow postcard.
If your taxes are to be paid from an escrow account or a new owner, please forward your tax bill immediately to the responsible party.
